HERE account FAQs

What are Nokia and HERE accounts?

You may have previously signed into HERE Map Creator using your Nokia account. From March 11th, 2015, you need a HERE account to edit the map. A HERE account is needed in order to identify you when you use HERE apps or services and keep your work associated with you. Read more about the benefits of having a HERE account

Nokia accounts will be discontinued on April 24th, 2015.

Why are Nokia accounts being discontinued?

Because Nokia Devices and Services was sold to Microsoft in April 2014, both Nokia and Microsoft have been responsible for managing Nokia accounts. HERE has now a new independent account system in order to identify you when you use a HERE app or service and keep your work associated with you. Because of this, Nokia account services are no longer needed to use HERE apps or services and will be shut down on April 24th, 2015.

It is possible to import previews Map Creator edits to the HERE system up until April 24th, 2015. If you´ve used Map Creator between March 11th and April 24th, you've probably already done this. After April 24th, just sign up for a new HERE account to keep editing the map.

When can I register for a HERE account?

Map Creator will switch to the new HERE account system during the first weeks of March 2015. When this happens, once you come to Map Creator the system will ask you to register for a HERE account. At this point you wont be able to log in with your old Nokia account.

I’ve made a lot of edits in Map Creator with a Nokia account. Can I keep them when I register for a new HERE account?

It is possible to import all your previews Map Creator edits to the HERE system up until April 24th, 2015. If you´ve used Map Creator between March 11th and April 24th, you've probably already done this. After April 24th, just sign up for a new HERE account to keep editing the map.

There are two ways to merge your old Nokia account and your new HERE account. (Only up to April 24th, 2015).

  1. The easiest way is to register for a HERE account using the same email address that you used for your Nokia account.

  2. - Just register for a HERE account using the same email address.
Make sure you have access to the inbox of the email address.
    - Confirm it using the link in the confirmation email you’ll receive.
    - Sign in to Map Creator.
Your Nokia and HERE accounts will be automatically merged, and your Map Creator edits imported to your HERE account.
  3. If you no longer use or don’t have access to your Nokia account email address, you can register for a HERE account using a new email address.

  4. - Just register for a HERE account using a new email address that isn’t already associated with a Nokia account.
    - Confirm it using the link in the confirmation email you’ll receive.
    - Sign in to Map Creator.
    - You’ll be asked if you’d like to merge your Nokia account with your new HERE account.
(If there’s not already a Nokia account associated with the email address)
    - To import your old Map Creator edits click on 'Merge accounts', you’ll be taken to the HERE account settings page.
    - Push the 'Import' button
    - Sign in to the Nokia account you want to import.

The import can be done only once. Afterwards, it's best to edit in Map Creator using just your HERE account.

I have two or more Nokia accounts. Can I merge them all with my new HERE account?

You can merge only one Nokia account with a HERE account before April 24th, 2015. After April 24th is no longer possible to merge accounts. To continue editing the map in Map Creator just register for a new HERE account. You can also register for multiple new HERE accounts, all using different email addresses.

How do I register for a new HERE account?

  1. Got to Map Creator and click 'register'.

  2. Click on 'Register for a HERE account'.

  3. Fill in the registration form, click on 'Next' when you are done.

If you register for a HERE account using a new email address that’s not associated with a Nokia account or was never used in Map Creator, you can still merge an old Nokia account with your new HERE account.

    - If you don't want to import old Map Creator edits from a Nokia account, or you are a new user click 'Close' and start editing.

If you don’t see this message, it means there’s already a Nokia account with the same email address as your new HERE account.

    .

  11. If you selected 'Merge now' you’ll be taken to the HERE account settings page, where you'll see an Import button. Push the 'Import' button and sign in to the Nokia account you want to import.

  12. After you’ve merged the accounts, go back to Map Creator and sign in (if the sign in didn’t happen automatically). To confirm that it worked, check that your edits are still there.
